PE25 Ida Sahmie bowl - Navajo-Hopi. 3" x 3 1/2"

$950.00

Native American pottery | Navajo | Dine | Ida Sahmie Bowl. Polychrome, featuring Mother Earth and Father Sky, on apposite sides.

Ida Sahmie is an interesting potter because she was/is a Navajo who married a Hopi, despite a long history of rivalry between those two tribes. She adopted Hopi pottery styles based on her move to Hopiland and her in-law relationship to Priscilla Nampeyo. In this case, the pot was signed as Dine’ in 1999.

Additional Info

Ida Sahmie was born in Pine Springs on the

combined traditions of Dine’ (content) and
Hopi (style).
