Additional Info

Melissa Antonio, of the Red Corn Clan and the Sun Clan, was born at Acoma in 1965. At the age of 23, she had become an outstanding pottery artist, following in the hand coiling tradition with intricate black on white patterns. Her pottery is created according to the methods of her pueblo ancestors. Occasionally, she will add a band creature or kokopelli silouettes around the pots the creates, as with the Mimbres-style rabbits on this example.
