Shyatesa WhiteDove studied at the Institute of American Indian Arts in Santa Fe, New Mexico, but acquired her abilities as a pottery artist by interacting with her family, foremostly Connie Cerno, who became her mentor in 1984. Shyatesa is 100%v Acoma and built her artistry through research, observation study of traditional Acoma styles, forms and techniques.
