Carolyn Lewis-Concho was born into Acoma Pueblo in 1963. She was encouraged to perpetuate the generations of Acoma pottery tradition by several of her family members, most significantly her older sister, Marilyn Ray, who led her to use natural materials to create her pieces of pottery art. She and her sisters, Marilyn Ray, Judy Lewis, Diane Lewis and Rebecca Lucario, are all daughters of Katherine Lewis. All are dedicated to traditional Acoma pottery.
