Native American pottery | vintage Hopi pot in white clay slip with black over-slip in negative space ribbon pattern.

Made by Hopi Indian, Rainy (Rainell) Naha, whose Featherwoman hallmark is on the base, with "R" (for Rainy) appended. Rainy is Featherwoman Helen Naha's daughter. Acquired in 1987.

Rainy Naha is a daughter of Helen Naha (1st Feather Woman) and the granddaughter of Paqua Naha (1st Frog Woman). Her siblings are Burel, Sylvia, and Rechenda. She signs her pottery with the traditional feather hallmark used by her mom and then adds the initial R.” - per Adobe Gallery

Hopi Featherwoman, also known as Helen Naha, started a string of talented Hopi pottery artists. Her offspring signed their Native American pots with Featherwoman’s trademark feather, adding an initial - in this case R for Regina - as signature.
